New Driver Escapes Revocation

Motoring solicitor Laura Newton represented a New Driver, who had held his licence for less than 2 years. He had found himself driving without insurance and would ordinarily have received 6 points on his Licence. As a New Driver his licence would have been revoked. The implications would include losing his employment and having to abandon his apprenticeship. He was advised to take the case to Court instead of accepting a fixed penalty. At Court, the Magistrates’ agreed that the implications of revocation would be devastating and imposed an alternative sentence which allowed him to keep his licence, his job and his training.
