SP30: What Does it Mean?
SP30 is an offence code that means exceeding a statutory speed limit on the public road. It does not mean, as is often thought, an offence of exceeding a 30mph speed limit, but can be any statutory speed limit on a public road. SP30 offences usually carry a fine and between 3-6 penalty points.
This is not the only code relating to speeding offences, all carry between 3-6 points:
SP20 Exceeding speed limit for type of vehicle (excluding goods or passenger vehicles)
SP30 Exceeding statutory speed limit on a public road
SP50 Exceeding speed limit on a motorway.
Other common driving offence codes are:
AC10 Failing to stop after an accident 5-10 points
CD10 Driving without due care and attention 3-9 points
CD20 Driving without reasonable consideration for other road users 3-9 points
CU80 Breach of requirement as to control of the vehicle, such as using a mobile phone 3-6 points
DR10 Driving or attempting to drive with alcohol level above limit 3-11 points
DR50 In charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink 10 points
IN10 Using a vehicle uninsured against third party risks 6-8 points
LC20 Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence 3-6 points
TS10 Failing to comply with traffic light signals 3 points
TS20 Failing to comply with double white lines 3 points
TS30 Failing to comply with a ‘stop’ sign 3 points
